news-1000Power generation engineering and services company “PGESCo” launched its pilot solar car shed project generating 14.31 kWe hybrid (on/off grid), considered to be a showcase featuring PGESCo’s philosophy that encourages the direct use of power generated from renewable resources.

This project provides the vehicle to PGESCo in order to study PV hybrid system, the dusting effect on PV panels, the Lithium-Ion battery and Nano dust repelling materials, to pave the way for raising the operational efficiency of solar energy projects and supporting company vision to encourage researches in this field to effectively fight climate change by lowering carbon emissions.

Consider the crash effort at PGESCo premises to place the plant by its main entrance to promote “green technology for sustainable development”.

Pioneering experience will have a major impact in raising the operational efficiency of solar energy projects

PGESCo solar shed system is designed to study the dusting effect, where dust repelling materials – based on NANO technology – is used by painting one module and measure the dusting effect on the energy generated compared with other modules that operate with no paint.

Moreover, PGESCo engineering team designed each module to be connected to an inverter/battery controller to allow using different dust cleaning techniques and compare the output of each techniques to the results expected from a numerical model utilizing the same weather parameters measured by the weather station installed within the system.

Encouraging the growth of green technology to achieve sustainable development

Powered by this unique pilot module, the plant will generate approximately 24 thousand kilowatt hours (kWh) of clean electricity per year. This generated electricity will, on average, displace approximately 16 tons of CO2 annually.

Project Overview

The 14.31 kWe solar power plant system design is based on modularity; that is, the modules can be repeated to fit the space or increase output power without the need to redesign the system.

The solar shed consists of 3 sun shed modules carrying 59 mono-crystalline PV panels and connected to inverters and battery charger controllers, which charges a 200 Ah battery while feeding uninterruptable power to main areas at the company. The battery is a state of the art Lithium-Ion, which provides both compact size and long life features.

Also, in the case of unavailability of sunlight this unique system charges the battery from the grid.
