PGESCo Engineering Design Platform
As part of PGESCo strategic direction to own its technology Platform, PGESCo IS&T team in coordination with Engineering team is developing an Integrated Engineering Design platform for Power Generation Plants spanning different engineering departments to increase the design process efficiency and ensures the quality of PGESCo projects deliverables are maintained while increasing the productivity of the engineering team.
PGESCo has successfully developed and implemented three new applications for Mechanical, Electrical and Plant Design departments. During 2016 PGESCo has obtained the International Copyright certification for the three applications after going through a rigorous and long verification and validation process. The applications are as follows:
Drain Flow Analysis (DFA) application – Mechanical:
DFA is a PGESCo developed program for the mechanical department used to analyze the flow of condensate in the drain lines of feed water heaters and similar services subject to the flashing process as follow:
- Achieves accurate calculations for water properties (saturation pressure, specific volume, and viscosity), liquid flow dynamic pressure losses, and mixture flow analysis.
- Has large standard fitting and standard valves data base which used for different sections dynamic pressure drops calculations.
- Verifies the flashing (cavitation) in the piping sections upstream the level control valve.
- Verifies the chocking flow and erosion rates in the piping sections downstream the level control valve.
- Determines the process data for the level control valve sizing calculation and the valve coefficient.
- Determines the flow characteristics (inlet/outlet pressures, flow velocity, mixture, etc.) for all piping sections.
Cable Design Suite (CDS) application – Electrical:
CDS is an interactive software system that enables electrical engineers to manage the electrical cables design lifecycle through design, size, route, terminate, monitor and track hundreds of electrical components in Power Generation Plants:
- Design and size cables including cable types, design references, service levels.
- Design, manage and control cable routing process
- Issue cable routing and termination cards
- Control the process of data exchange between electrical design engineers and construction engineers
Pipe Support Design (PSD) application – Plant Design:
PSD is a PGESCo developed program for the Pipes support team used to accelerate the pipe supports deliverables. The application increases the efficiency of the design process by automating the integration between Smart plant 3D model data, Stress analysis data from Caesar and data from Vendors catalogs to create and deliver Pipe supports calculations.
